Elfish Tree

This was a quick experiment using different brushes. I was shooting for more of a pointillist look. It was also good practice to get reacquainted with Painters tools. This may or may not be finished. I have a few other paintings that I plan on doing between semesters.

Parker Family Retreat

This is the bandana/layout I designed for our family retreat. My wife helped me layout 14 bandanas and a larger piece for a flag on 5 yards of fabric. We precut notches enabling for each one to be torn from the original cloth. We gave the kick off message by reading the story of Captain Moroni from the Book of Mormon, acting out the part of the title of liberty. Each person was given the charge to write their testimony on each bandana and on the larger flag. We flew the flag over our "camp" at each activity.

Digital Painting Class Projects.

I have been holding these in reserve.

In an attempt to force my hand at new material,

I have decided to post the rest of my class projects.

Apples and Bananas

Painting done from a photo that I took.

Dolphin Call

Illustration for an article, about marine biologist using telephone lines to create audio links between two dolphin tanks, miles apart. The idea being to help the unborn calf of a deaf mother to start to hear and recognize speech.

Feng Shui?
Another Illustration for an article about a city in China.
Apparently it was worth 60 thousand to paint the old mine on the hillside,
to improve the scenery outside a new private office building.

Lehi's Dream

No longer available, due to my new understanding of copyright law gained in my Senior Seminar Class. Please visit the original photo of "Rainbow at Elam Bend" by Dan Bush, it is an absolutely beautiful photo. Sad to hear that the "Old Tree" has suffered from age related weathering. He updated and Illustrated his story of the photo on his website.

"Rainbow at Elam Bend"

For those who have made inquiries of my digital montage "Lehi's Dream":
I created the piece from a small, low resolution image gleaned from a
long email chain.

After asking his permission, to use a
high resolution image for recreating a larger version of
the piece, I have not heard from the photographer. I honestly thought I would at least receive a negative answer. But a non-response is not professional nor courteous.

This is actually a blessing I will be able to call the new image my own. Therefore I
will be re-visiting this image using my own imagery in a traditional medium.

First Self Portrait

This is actually my first ever self portrait. All of my art teachers growing up figured I drew well enough that I probably did not need to practice human faces. Evidently, they were wrong! No time like the present... I will get better, as I practice with my children and my wife.

Coming Soon to a Blog Near You.

This is my outlet for creative thinking, where I will be posting my newest adventures in design for friends and family to see. Until recently, my creative/design talents have been place on hold. In an effort to reignite my right brain I have been doing some sketching and digital painting. I just finished the digital painting course at UVSC, and I will be posting some of those results here. It is my goal to continue sketching, painting, posting.
